Subject: TPI Issues
For Prime Minister - John Howard
I emailed you a couple of weeks back asking for the Liberal Party policy on Veterans Affairs. I got a reply which directed me to the Veterans Affairs Policy for the Liberal Party. No where in the policy could I see what you intend to do for the Totally and Permanenty Incapaciated (TPI) veterans of Australia.
You have had over three years to produce a satisfactory response to the TPI Issue but nothing. Now all other parties have released their Veterans Affairs policies and believe it on not, they all have support for the TPI issue. The Liberal Party - NOTHING.
You spend time telling the media how much you support those who you are sending off to war but the veterans who are now on the scrap heap due to their war service are ignored. You offer these young defence personnel extra money while they are overseas but little do they realise that when in years to come, when their war injuries catch up with them that they will be offered a pittance of $360 per week if TPI.
You have watched the TPI pension (Compensation) erode over the years, you have watched the quality of life that us TPIs have forfeited due to our disabitlities, you have watched our families and children suffer because the husband and father is TPI and yet you have done NOTHING.
The TPI Federation has been pushing this issue with the support of many ESOs which includes the RSL and yet you still do nothing.
Well Mr Howard while you have been handing out millions of dollars to all and sundry which includes the refugee situation, you have shown the veteran community just how much you do not care for us. Heaven help our young that you are now sending off to war. We will continue the fight to get a fairer deal for TPIs and other war veterans, with or without you.
