One Nation reveals preference facts
5 November 2001
One Nation's Queensland State Director, Morrie Marsden says the party has put all sitting members last on the party's how to vote cards in all lower house seats in Queensland except in Kennedy and Fisher.
One Nation's stance on preferences means the Liberal Party has been put last in 12 seats, Labor is last in 9 seats and the National's are last in 4 seats," Mr Marsden said from Ipswich today.
Liberals have received our second preferences in four seats, labor has received no second preferences in any seats and Nationals have received second preferences in two seats," he said.
Pauline Hanson's One Nation is the only political party that has not done any preference deals in the lead up to the Federal Election on November 10."
"The fact is, the other parties need each other to survive," Mr Marsden said. "In some cases you've got parties that are supposed to be poles apart ideologically preferencing each other before One Nation."
"Preference deals between the Coalition and Labor have effectively denied a vote to millions of conservative people throughout Queensland and Australia,"" Mr Marsden said.
"One Nation is the only party standing on its own two feet without doing preference deals. Liberal and Labor, Nationals and Democrats have had to band together to bolster their support. They are willing to make alliances with each other to ensure their short term survival," he said.
"Despite being under constant attack by all the parties and a small section of the media we are still here and are standing candidates in all 27 seats in Queensland."
Mr Marsden said it was important to remember that preferences remained up to each individual. We can recommend where a voter's preference goes, but ultimately, it is the voter that owns the preference, and voters can put their preferences where they wish," he said.
