Location: Southern outskirts of Sydney; it includes the suburbs of Alfords Point, Bangor, Chipping Norton, Como, Engadine, Hammondville, Heathcote, Holsworthy, Illawong, Jannali, Lucas Heights, Menai, Moorebank, Oyster Bay, Sutherland, Waterfall, Woronora, Wattle Grove, Sandy Point, Loftus, Yarrawarrah, Bonnet Bay and Barden Ridge.

Area: 487 sq km (approx.). Electors enrolled: 89 630 (at 6.11.99).

State electorates: Hughes includes parts of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly electorates of Menai, Heathcote and Miranda.
