Indonesia could get more cash: Ruddock

AUSTRALIA will consider any request from Indonesia to provide more funds to combat people smuggling, Immigration Minister Philip Ruddock has said.
Mr Ruddock said the federal Government was in on-going discussions with Indonesia about people smuggling.
"If, in order to ensure that we are able to manage these issues effectively, there are further requests from Indonesia then we would obviously look at them," he told reporters in Adelaide today.
"But this is not a question of buying Indonesia's support or anything of that nature.
"It's simply a question of if there are issues which in a bilateral way arise where they want some help and assistance, we would obviously look at it."
Mr Ruddock said he was not aware of any current request from Indonesia for further funding assistance from Australia.
